Hands-On Somatic Bodywork
Trauma release through touch. Hands-on work that supports you to break through the barriers and thresholds that are hard to get to on your own.
You’re here for this
Somatic Bodywork
This work is rooted in Zenthai Shiatsu and Chinese Qi Gong massage — two hands-on lineages Keith has trained in, practised, and then infused with the intelligence of Shaking Medicine.
Zenthai Shiatsu was developed by Gwyn Williams. Keith trained with Gwyn personally — in person with the founder, not only the form. It weaves Zen Shiatsu, Thai massage, and osteopathic techniques into one intuitive practice for structure, energy, and emotion: mindful touch, stretching, and rhythmic movement that relieves tension and invites the body back into itself.
Chinese Qi Gong massage works with qi, meridians, and the fascia through pressing, kneading, tapping, and other hand methods — moving stuck energy, restoring flow, and meeting the places the thinking mind cannot reach.
- Relieves tension, aches, and pain
- Enhances mobility and alignment
- Supports deep relaxation and stress reduction
- Meets structural, energetic, and emotional holding
- Leaves you feeling revitalised and more in your body
What makes this different
Shaking Medicine Meets Somatic Bodywork
All of this is infused with the intelligence of Shaking Medicine. Someone embodied with this work can feel, in the hands, the places that are hard to get to on your own — and support you through them more efficiently.
A bodyworker with the embodied-instinctive wisdom of Shaking Medicine can tangibly feel the blockages the tremor is made to release, present in a client.
This is a loving, intentional hands-on approach where you can be supported to move the neurogenic therapeutic tremors through you — through the barriers and thresholds that stay stuck when you are working alone.
This can tap into subtle energetics, emotional blockages, and subconscious patternings — supporting deep transformation, release, openings and awakenings.
This unique exploration can easily transcend a physical experience, moving into a somatic and even shamanic journey of cathartic release.
Rooted in Shaking Medicine, Zenthai Shiatsu, and Chinese Qi Gong Massage.

What a session is like
Receive, let go, completely relax.
On a mat on the earth. You arrive. The body leads.
- This practice is typically done on a massage mat on the earth.
- Keith uses various parts of his body to gently move you around, explore mobility, press acupressure points, massage tension, unwind fixations, create nourishing compaction, and more.
- Possible positions: on your back, on your belly, on your side, seated, and even flying therapeutics.
- Moxibustion, Thai herbal poultice, and cupping are sometimes explored.
- We focus on your unique goals — particular tensions, aches, pains, stress, emotional energy, trauma, or more.
- Chinese Medicine guides the session so it stays maximally aligned.
- Best received on an empty or light stomach.
- Wear comfortable clothing that covers most of your body — and dress warm, as the body tends to cool down when receiving.
- Keith is often travelling, so catch him if you are near him. Currently based in Bali — or book a Deep Dive Retreat to fly to him, or fly him to you.
Keith’s bodywork
Trained, practised, and lived in the body.
Years of Shaking Medicine in the hands — so the session can go where it needs to.
- Dr. Keith Motes is the founder of the Shaking Medicine Foundation. Read more about Keith.
- He is a Zenthai Shiatsu therapist, trained personally with founder Gwyn Williams.
- He has trained in Chinese Qi Gong Massage with the works of Dr. Yáng, Jwìng-Míng.
- He has been practising this Zenthai Shiatsu bodywork for 5 years, pouring in 15+ years of dedicated practice and teaching of the healing arts, Yoga, Qi Gong, and especially Shaking Medicine.
- Those years of Shaking Medicine let him feel, in the hands, where suppressed charges and stuck energies live in the body — the places the tremor is made to release.
- That sensing supports you to break through trauma and holding patterns more quickly, including the ones that can be hard to reach alone.
- He practises with deep reverence and presence, so every journey is like a beautiful moving meditation — no two sessions the same.
