In depth experiences of shaking medicine are available with Professor Keeney. His teaching emphasizes two forms of shaking practice: (1) ecstatic body shaking in the Life Force Theatre and (2) ecstatic shaking of cognitive habits and everyday routines with what he calls N/om Talk. Teaching goes back and forth between ecstatic body shaking and transformative encounters that deconstruct habitual construing of daily life. There is no "mastery" of shaking medicine. The emphasis is upon unlearning and not knowing, with the goal of never-ending returns to beginner's mind. Everything is shaken up - ideas, beliefs, understandings, ways of knowing and being, embodied presence, and spiritual practice. The purpose of shaking medicine is to deconstruct, deprogram, empty, clear, cleanse, and ready you for the mysterium tremendum.
Professor Keeney's most basic teaching offerings involve weekend intensives ("Getting Cooked") and a home study course ("The Original Mysteries of Spirit"). Each year, Professor Keeney offers a limited number of experiential intensives that begin on a Thursday evening and continue through Friday and Saturday.
